The Shaanxi History Museum

Shaanxi History Museum, which located in the northwest of the Dayan Pagoda of ancient city Xi'an, it covers 65,000 square meters, with a building area of 60,000 square meters, collects the highlights of the Shaanxi culture and shows a development of the Chinese civilization. It is the first huge state museum with modern facilities in China, and given the reputation of "bright pearl of ancient city, treasure house of China."

The Shaanxi History Museum collects 115,000 objects which include bronzes, Tang-dynasty tomb wall paintings, terracotta statuary, ceramics, construction materials through the dynasties, Han and Tang bronze mirrors, and coins and currency, calligraphy, rubbings, scrolls, woven articles, bone articles, wooden and lacquer and iron and stone objects, seals, also some contemporary cultural relics and ethnic objects. Simultaneously, the museum also exhibited some relics over-seas in the cities of Japan, France, United States, United Kingdom, Germany and other countries and regions.

The style of the architecture of the museum is simple, unsophisticated, elegant and unique. It combines the construction of the ancient Chinese palaces and courtyard buildings, harmonious and graceful in hue, and demonstrates the Chinese traditional architectural style as well as the local characteristics.

The Museum has established a science and technology centre for the preservation of cultural relics. Meanwhile with a computer-controlled, international symposium hall where six different languages can be employed in the spontaneous interpretation.
