Chinese Ethnic Culture Park

The Nationalities Park, which is also known as the Chinese Ethnic Culture Park. It is located near the Olympic Sports Centre in the northern part of the city of Beijing.

The whole museum is divided into North Garden and South Garden with an area of 450,000 square meters. There are 16 national villages in the North Garden including those of Qiang, Oroqen and Hezhe ethnic groups, with a focus on traditional architecture, music and dance, and also handicraft works and national food. 95% of the Chinese are Han nationality, but there are 56 ethnic groups in the Chinese family altogether.

The park is around 45 hectares (111.2acres), is composed of 37ethnic group villages and some 40 ethnic group scenic spots. The China Ethnic Culture Park boasts some large minority- style architecture including the Museum of the Chinese nationalities with an exhibition area of 1,000 square metres, the Chinese nationalities Song and Dance Theatre with 800 seats, the Big Fall Square large enough to hold 4,000 people, and the Three-Pagoda Nationalities Get-Together Square large enough to accommodate 6,000 people. In the past few years, the Chin Ethnic Culture Park has played host to the closing ceremony of the Far-East and South Pacific Games for the disabled, the Evening Party of the World Conference of Archives, the closing ceremony of the World Conference of Military Medical Science, the Evening Party of the World Conference of Geology, and some other domestic and international confereces and activities.
