The Shennong Stream, located in Badong County, is one of the 'lesser gorges' along the Yangtze River. It is originated from the south slope of Shennongjia, known as “the First Peak of central China”. It is 60km long, joining the Changjiang River at Wuxia Stream. Shennongxi is a national AAAA tourists spot, which combines big Three_Streams’ grandness, steepness and elegance . It consists of the characteristics of four natural streams— Shennong Stream, Mianzhu Stream, Yingwu Stream and Longchang Stream.
Giant granite walls rising straight out of the water for a thousand feet (about 300 m) form the theater through which these rivers flow. Only a few feet above the ancient waterline, a thin ledge runs for several miles, hardly visible from the river.
Cleaved queer cliffs, deep and elegant valley and lake, flying birds and playing monkeys, suspension coffins, plank roads and grave groups, if you drift an ancient wooden boat or a sightseeing ship along the stream, you will enjoy the beautiful scenery. The scene of naked boat trackers, the unique scene along the Changjiang river has attracted numerous domestic and foreign tourists. lf you have meals halfway at Luoping Center, you will experience native Tujia Nationality Folk, which will make you forget the time to go back home.
