Beijing Capital Museum

Located in the Confucius Temple at Guozijian Street at Andingmen. Beijing Capital Museum was officially opened to the outside world in 1981 which after its over 20 years construction duration and setbacks.

Beijing Confucius Temple in which the Beijing Capital Museum is housed, was built in 1302 AD, which happened to be the sixth year of the Dade reign period of the Yuan dynasty. It was for the emperors to worship Confucius. Beijing Confucius Temple occupies an area of 22000 square meters and has three wide courtyards, it is the the second largest temple in China. The The Xianshi Gate of the temple now serves as the entrance to the Beijing Capital Museum.

Ever since the establishment of Beijing Capital Museum, it held hundreds exhibitions in different types concerning the history, cultural relics, revolutionary history and folk custom that can be classified into 21 broad categories. Include glassware, stone inscriptions, paintings, bronze, silver, and bronze wares and a various type of silk fabrics.
