Known as "The world's largest inland aquarium" attracted plenty of opposition from local environmental groups when it opened in 1999. The aquarium features thousands of different aquatic species - man-eating fishes, precious Chinese sturgeons, huge sea elephants and fierce sharks are among some of the highlights.

A visit to the Aquarium serves the twin purpose especially for kids. Apart from an entertaining venture it is very knowledgeable for them as they get to know about the sea creatures and aquatic life. Do watch the porpoise performance and take part in the fish feeding in the big tank during your visit to the Beijing Aquarium. Dolphins Shows at 11 AM and 3 PM are the most popular ones in the Beijing Aquarium. Get a place for yourself before the dolphin show starts to avoid disappointment later. There indeed is no better place to have such a close encounter with the marine life as in the Beijing Aquarium.

Tourists can also enjoy shows performed by sea lions and whales in the aquarium's Ocean Theater.
